Darren and Kathryn are Senior Leaders of Freedom Church in Bury. They have a little boy, Jotham Freedom, and this year celebrate being married 11 years. They both have a big heart and relentless passion for building the local church and impacting the town in which they were born, Bury!
Darren was born in 1976; he knew God from a young age and realised he wanted to do something significant for Him. He and Kathryn both grew up in church, and as young adults they grew in leadership, character and wisdom serving on staff at the Bridge Church, Bolton. During their time there, they gave oversight to youth ministry, pastoral care, developed and led discipleship courses and missions overseas. Kathryn also played a key role in the women’s ministry and led many successful community events.
In January 2006 the Senior Pastors of the Bridge Church released Darren and Kathryn to pioneer and build a passionate, life changing church in the heart of Bury. With a handful of people, they hired a community centre in a local estate and began the Freedom journey. The rest is History, so they say…
Darren and Kathryn love life, adventure and people. Darren is a great thinker, strategist and leader. He’s a big fan of Indiana Jones, Manchester United and Jotham! He also loves chilling out at Starbucks with a caramel macchiato. Kathryn has a big heart to see people live with passion, purpose and to see God do the extra-ordinary through them. She has a contagious spirit, is a great communicator and possesses the ability to light up a room. She loves horse riding, Oreo biscuits, being ginger & sitting under the stars till late with friends!
