Love:Bury
Be fair to the poor and to orphans. Defend the helpless and everyone in need.
Psalm 82:3 (The Bible)
This vision is all about the 183,000 people that live in our town, a desire to care for and meet their needs in a practical way. Love:Bury is a cultural revolution of being the change and caring enough to do something about it! It’s about being Church in our world, streets, schools, and work place. It’s about bringing God’s culture to people’s lives, being generous with our time, help, support and love to the people of our great town.
This dream began when Darren, our Senior Pastor, had an encounter with a young man in the process of committing suicide on the pavement of a local street in Bury. With no mobile phone he tried to get help by banging on the doors of residents nearby. With no response, he cried out to God to help!! Moments later, a police car drove past. Darren was able to flag the car down and ultimately save the guy’s life!
God spoke to Darren and said, “The people of Bury are dying and nobody cares.” It was at this point we knew we had to do something, anything, to help people, to meet needs and to show Gods’ love. There are many needs behind closed doors, much brokenness and many stories to be told. Someone once said, “Never look down on anyone, unless you’re helping them up!”
Love:Bury has only just begun…
